FIU seeks better times in 2010
By Bud L. Ellis
The Florida International Golden Panthers definitely hope 2010 turns out better than last season.
The Golden Panthers managed just three victories in 12 tries last season, enduring a rough campaign that ended in a sixth-place tie with Arkansas State in the Sun Belt Conference.
The sledding will be tough, especially early. FIU begins with a home game against Rutgers on Sept. 11. That’s followed by five road games in the next six, including three tough trips to Texas A&M, Maryland and Pittsburgh.
Back home for an Oct. 9 game with Western Kentucky, the Golden Panthers then travel to North Texas on Oct. 16 and Florida Atlantic on Oct. 30.
November dawns with a home game against Louisiana-Monroe on Nov. 6. FIU plays at Sun Belt champ Troy on Nov. 13 and at Louisiana-Lafayette on Nov. 20. The Owls are home for their final two games, Nov. 27 against Arkansas State and Dec. 4 against Middle Tennessee State.
